We have definitely have had our share of aging pets. Our vets are not amazed anymore at the ages with which they live to. Our black lab was 18. Cats 18, 19, 20, and 24. Our goat Pebbles, is now 16 and starting to show signs, but with a lot of TLC she is still holding her own. Things we attribute this to: Good food, lots of love and common sense when dealing with them, herbs and acupressure. The bladder meridian that run down either side of the spine is stimulated when we pet our four legged friends. The acupressure benefit of this is we activate the association points for all of the internal organs, basically giving them a full body massage that encourages healthy body functions. Another area that is very useful as they age, is the webbing area on the back of the leg, right above the hock. The outside area is an aspirin point (Bladder 64), which release a reaction in the body that is similar to aspirin, helping easy any aches and pains. The inside area is a strong essence point (Kidney 3). As they age they start to loose their vitality and this helps to enliven it (their essence). Just some gentle pressure and deep breathing while we hold the spot for a few minutes, a couple of times a week, has served our pets well.
